Karin Segers new Director of Conventions Rotterdam Ahoy

We are happy to announce that Karin Segers will be joining the Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre team in the position of Director of Conventions, starting the 1st of May. She will be following in the footsteps of Mirjam van de Kamp, who will be departing the 1st of July for a personal adventure.

Huge asset
Segers is a very experienced MICE professional, and has experience in leading a similar team, as she is currently the segment leader for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events at 35 NH hotels in The Netherlands. With her extensive experience in the MICE world, she is a huge asset to the Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre. In her new role, she will be responsible for further establishing brand awareness for the Convention Centre, both nationally and internationally, and will lead the team of sales managers. Together with the team, she is also responsible for recognizing the needs of the clients and guaranteeing an excellent execution. Karin Segers: "I’m thrilled to embark on this exciting journey at Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre, where my hometown pride meets professional passion! Excited to collaborate with the dynamic team, connect with customers and the wonderful Rotterdam community. Can’t wait to continue and expand the fantastic base that Mirjam has built with the team.”

Personal adventure

Segers succeeds Mirjam van de Kamp, who will travel with her family for an indefinite period starting this Summer. Van de Kamp: "With a heavy heart, I will be leaving Rotterdam Ahoy this summer, but for a special reason: we are embarking on a journey with our family, sailing towards sunny destinations to give our lives a different meaning for an indefinite period. We do plan to return, but the timing remains uncertain. Whether this also signifies my return to Rotterdam Ahoy or if I might remotely stay connected is not determined, but if the opportunity arises, it could very well happen. Especially because I genuinely feel at home within the organization, and work is not the reason for my departure. I am happy to see Karin is continuing what we have started, and I am convinced that she will be successful!"

With an impressive 35 rooms, a state-of-the-art auditorium (RTM Stage), beautiful foyers and exhibition spaces, the convention center provides the perfect setting for (international) conferences, corporate events and exhibitions on both national and international scales. The auditorium can be transformed into an XL variant, accommodating up to 4,400 people, and is also utilized as a music venue for an audience of 7,842 people.
